One Gift, Lasting Impact
Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us.”
Ephesians 3:20
This October marks a beautiful milestone for us at the Beautifully Flawed Foundation! Back in 2013, a dream became a reality as we hosted the very first, inaugural Beautifully Flawed Retreat in Del Mar, California. Little did we know all that God had in store — how He’d use these retreats in more greater ways than we could have possibly imagined. And now, as we approach what will be our official 10th year of Beautifully Flawed retreats, we’re overwhelmed and filled with immense gratitude by all God has done, working in and through these retreats as a way for hundreds of young women and now men with limb difference to encounter true healing and freedom. A space for them to turn trauma into triumph, experience transformation and real community, be equipped with life tools, and rediscover hope again knowing they are capable of overcoming because of the One who overcame all for them.
As we quickly draw near to our upcoming Beautifully Flawed and Forge retreats, we would be so grateful if you considered giving to our 2023 Fall Giving Campaign. There’s something so powerful and meaningful when you know exactly what your financial gift is going towards. This is the very reason why we’ve intentionally created 13 different funds for 13 essential aspects of our retreats, so that you can prayerfully decide which area you’d like to sow into. Here are the various areas:
Housing
Our home away from home is located in a private and pristine setting right on the beach, where we aim to provide a safe place for everyone to be themselves, find rest for their souls, and take in the beauty that promotes healing.
Goal - $10,000
Photography & Videography
We hire a top-notch team of professionals to capture the retreat so our attendees don’t have to. This also allows us to share the many stories from the retreat with our community.
Goal - $10,000
Attendee Scholarships
We are committed to making sure every attendee is able to be a part of our retreats no matter what their financial need is.
Goal - $7,000
Nutrition
When giving to this fund you ensure that each retreat attendee experiences the benefit of eating nutritious foods and fueling their body with healthy, balanced meals.
Goal - $6,000
Banquet Dinner
On the final evening of our retreat, we treat attendees to a beautiful banquet dinner and we don’t hold back on making this a memorable and elegant event.
Goal - $5,000
Surf Day
A day where barriers are broken, and what seemed impossible becomes possible. This fund allows us to provide a team of professional surf instructors to make this incredible day happen.
Goal - $5,000
Medical Team
We take everyone’s health and safety deeply important and make sure to have a team of professionals onsite every step of the way.
Goal - $3,000
Transportation – Golf Carts
Because there are so many working parts at the retreat, having golf carts, especially for our leg amputees who can’t always easily walk, is key to having a smooth retreat.
Goal - $3,000
Fitness
Our attendees get a chance to learn from trained fitness professionals that work to help our attendees to learn tips and tricks to working out as an adaptive athlete.
Goal - $2,500
Hair and Makeup for Beautifully Flawed
More than just being beautiful, a glam squad is a fun way to make our attendees FEEL beautiful and radiate confidence.
Goal - $1,000
Portrait Photos
In addition to a media team, we have a special time allocated for a photoshoot for each attendee. During this time, attendees dress their best and enjoy having professional photos taken of them and their new community.
Goal - $1,000
Arts and Crafts for Beautifully Flawed
This time creates an opportunity of expression and bonding with one another, integrating deeper values of relationship and sense of being seen.
Goal - $500
Special Activity for the Forge
Bringing our Forge attendees together for a fun team-building activity is a great way for them all to create relationships with each other, foster some friendly competition, and have a time to just let go and enjoy themselves.
Goal - $500
Our goal for this campaign is a total of $54,500. To date, we have raised $38,050 – 69.82% of our goal!
Would you be able to partner with us to help reach this goal? Any amount you can give makes a difference, and we’d be so thankful. These retreats are truly only possible because of your generosity, your prayers, and your continued support of the Beautifully Flawed Foundation.
With October just around the corner, we look forward to these two, upcoming retreats with great anticipation as we know God always provides abundantly more and moves in ways more miraculous than we could have ever imagined.
Attendee Testimony:
“Because of generous donations, I was able to attend this life-changing retreat when I would not have been able to otherwise. Having the opportunity to meet girls like me was an experience I never imagined possible when I lost my leg above the knee a year prior. Throughout the duration of the event, we accomplished so much ranging from activities like adaptive surfing and CrossFit, to looking past tragedy and finding the beauty in each of our stories. It was a weekend full of faith, hope, sisterhood, and conquering feats the rest of society says are impossible for people with disabilities.
In the beginning of my limb loss journey, I quickly realized that the world is not set up for people like me; people with disabilities are often an afterthought. Having the opportunity to come to a place like Beautifully Flawed, where the staff goes above and beyond to put its attendees and their needs first, has been the biggest blessing I could have asked for! The lessons I’ve taken from the retreat are invaluable and the memories made will last a lifetime. I hope to come back in the future!”
