Our Mission & Team

We believe there is a longing within every individual to overcome the trials, pains, and difficulties of life.

Our mission is to encourage a broken world and offer hope to overcome through Jesus Christ. We believe there is a longing within every individual to overcome the trials, pains and difficulties of life. We believe that longing is answered and fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ.

With a vision to establish individuals to be overcomers in Christ, the family and friends of Bethany Hamilton, a world-class professional surfer who lost her arm to a shark bite at the age of 13, formed the Beautifully Flawed Foundation a 501(c)3 non-profit organization (EIN 32-0220098).

Jesus said, “In the world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Our Programs

Beautifully Flawed Foundation hosts retreats, conferences and programs within the United States. The Beautifully Flawed Retreat is our most renowned program and is a retreat for young amputee women ages 14-26. This program is just one example of how the Beautifully Flawed Foundation has restored hope in this broken world.

We believe it is important to be honest and true to our faith, making sure that everything we do is centered around our passion for the gospel of Christ and our desire to share the love of God with the broken world.

Our Core Values are:

  • Caring –  we show compassion toward all those in need
  • Respect for Our Beginnings – originally named the Friends of Bethany Hamilton Foundation, we still aim to convey a sense of Bethany’s healthy, active lifestyle in each of our programs
  • Holistic – we empower those we reach to be their best in all areas of life
  • Effective – we make a noticeable difference in the lives of individuals and groups we reach
  • Personal – we seek to build lasting mentorship relationships with the attendees in order to be a resource and an encouragement to them on their life journey as they mature personally, professionally and spiritually in their knowledge of God and Christian character.
