It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the postponement of this year’s Beautifully Flawed Retreat.

We know that this news will come as an enormous disappointment, not only to the attendees, but to the community surrounding the retreat and to our incredibly dedicated team who makes this event possible.

Friends of Bethany has greatly felt the generosity and passion of our partners and donors around our 2020 retreat, especially in this challenging and ever-changing time. With so many coming together to support this year’s event financially and in many other ways, this is not a decision our organization has taken lightly.

Between all that is happening with COVID-19, the current risks involved in traveling, the restrictions on gatherings, and the difficulty of planning for changing circumstances, we believe the best course of action for the Beautifully Flawed retreat is to postpone the event until 2021. A final date has not been chosen, but we are considering every possible option.

One of our greatest concerns is the health and safety of our attendees, many of whom would be considered high risk. We feel we cannot ensure a safe environment without compromising the intimate setting and community focus of our retreat. We want to make sure attending our retreat is not only an experience of a lifetime, but also a place of safety, healing, and hope.

We certainly feel the need for this life changing-experience in the lives of attendees and are exploring other options to connect with them until we can safely gather in person. We will be hosting a virtual experience for our attendees within the next couple weeks, and are excited to give them an opportunity to meet each other and share about what they are facing. We are also excited to be sending them some goodies as a small picture of what they can look forward to at the retreat.

We want to say a big thank you to the many members of our community who have given to help make this year’s retreat possible. At seven weeks shy of our event, we are proud to have raise 86% of our fundraising goal and we couldn’t have done it with you. We are so thankful for your hearts and your willingness to give to this experience.

To those who donated to the 2020 retreat:

It is incredibly important to us that you have the opportunity to decide how you would like your recent gift to be used. We understand these are strange and hard times, and are happy to provide options to you in the event you would like those funds allocated in another direction. Every option is a good one!

  • Option 1: Use my donation toward the 2021 Beautifully Flawed Conference
  • Option 2: Use my donation funds toward the Friends of Bethany Hamilton organization in general
  • Option 3: Please refund the amount (We will be in touch shortly on the best way to get this to you!)

Please check your inbox of the email you used to make your donation for how to select your option.

What’s next:

Although the retreat has been postponed, we are using this time to work on some exciting new things coming to the organization. We ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers while we are in the planning and preparing stages. We are eager to share all the wonderful things ahead in the coming months. We are praying for your family’s health and safety in these times.
